Regular Public Open House Days

Our farm-site is open to the public every first and third Saturday of the month between 10:30am-4:30pm from May through the end of October as well as on select special event days throughout the year. The ranch railroad operates on the half hour during our regular open house days with one of our coal fired steam locomotives scheduled to pull the trains every first Saturday of the month and our Alco C415 gas-hydraulic locomotive powering the trains on the third Saturday of the month.

Christmas with the Alpacas & North Pole Express 2026

Christmas with the Alpacas & North Pole Express will be our final public event of the 2026 season. Taking place on the weekends of December 6th & 7th, 12th & 13th and 19th & 20th from 4:30pm-8:30pm both days, this event will be by Reservations will NOT be required and will the price will be charged by individual upon arrival. $10.00 per adult, $7.00 per child and $8.50 per senior. Group rates are also available starting at $30.00 for a family of four to five, $40.00 for a family of six to nine and $55.00 for groups of ten to fifteen. The event will feature festive alpaca & llama interactions, pictures with Santa, rides aboard the steam or diesel powered North Pole Express train, model train displays, hot cocoa & Christmas cookies. Your entry ticket price includes two trips (three laps around the loop per each trip) for the North Pole Express, one small bag of alpaca & goat/sheep feed for each person and one picture with Santa.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: parts of the ranch are still under construction and will remain off limits to visitors (clearly marked) for safety reasons.

Alpacas on the Train

Take a special winter or spring time ride aboard the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's 9:00am departure of their Allegany Winter Express as you are joined by some of Allegany County, MD and Bedford County, Pa's favorite fluffy critters. The alpacas and llamas will make the 2 hour and 45 minute round trip in the open-air car allowing passengers the opportunity to see, feed and interact with the animals during the trip.

Alpaca Yoga

Every May and October we offer a very special alpaca yoga experience with local yoga instructor Courtney McKay. The event costs $25.00 per person and advanced reservations are required.

The event is 2 hours and includes refreshments in the form of either three slices of pizza (cheese, pepperoni or buffalo chicken), a sandwich (grilled cheese, Ruben or turkey club) or a chicken salad (grilled or crispy chicken) with a drink (water, tea, coke or sprite). Your food choices, all coming from the Hornet's Nest, a delicious local restaurant in downtown Hyndman, Pa (just two minutes from the farm), must be made at the time of your reservation. During the Yoga event, in addition to your yoga class and lunch break, guests will have the opportunity to engage with, cuddle and feed a few of our friendliest llamas, alpacas, goats and sheep (including lambs).

National Train Day/Opening Weekend 2027

Our opening weekend for the 2027 season will be taking place on May 8th & 9th from 12:00pm to 4:30pm as we celebrate both the start of a new season as well as National Train Day. The event will include animal interactions, but the main focus will be on the railroad side of the ranch with beautiful model train displays/layouts and rides along the ranch railroad. The highlight of the event will feature ALL three of our operating steam locomotives fired up and making both demonstration runs and pulling trains over the Alpaca Belt Line loop. There will even be special rides behind double headed steam and a special guest visiting steam locomotive or two.

Reservations are REQUIRED and the event will cost $15.00 per adult 13+, $8.00 for children 2-12 and $10.00 for seniors 65+.

Independence Day with the Alpacas 2027

During the weekend of July 3rd & 4th, we will be opening our doors to the public to celebrate America's 251st birthday. Included will be animal encounters, steam train rides, special themed pictures with some of our friendliest alpacas and llamas as well as some local vendors. Event will take place from 1:00pm to 6:00pm both days.

Reservations are NOT required and the cost will be $10.00 per adult 13+, $5.00 per child 2-12 and $7.00 per senior 65+, which will include one ride on the railroad (three laps around the loop) and one small bag of animal feed per individual.

National Alpaca Farm Days 2026

On September 26th & 27th, 2026 from 12:00pm to 5:00pm, our farm will be open to the public for a FREE event in conjunction with the Alpaca Owners Association as we participate in the nationwide annual National Alpaca Farm Days. The focus on this event will certainly be on the alpacas with special encounters, behind the scenes tours and alpaca education.

This will also be the ONLY event of the year where the steam train will be fired up and giving rides for FREE to the public for the entire year/season.

Pumpkin Patch Express 2026

Our Pumpkin Patch Express event takes place on the weekends of October 10th & 11th, 17th & 18th and 24th & 25th from 12:00pm to 4:30pm. During the event there will be animal encounters, local vendors and train rides aboard the Pumkin Patch Express pulled by either steam or diesel locomotives. Guests can pick out ONE pumpkin of their choosing from the Pumpkin Patch and take two rides around on the train (3 laps per each ride around the loop), all of which is included with every ticket. In addition, the ranch store will be open with alpaca products and model trains/accessories available for purchase and some of the model train displays/layouts in operation.
